Defence civilian employees to get revised risk and hardship matrix from October
The Ministry of Defence has approved a revision of the risk and hardship matrix applicable to defence civilian employees, effective 1 October 2026.
Employees in specified trades in ordnance factories, naval dockyards and ammunition depots move up one cell in the matrix, which translates into a higher monthly risk and hardship allowance.
The revision follows a survey of working conditions carried out by a committee that included representatives of the recognised federations of defence civilian employees.
Separately, the Ministry has extended the scheme of free medical treatment at service hospitals to dependants of industrial employees at 22 additional stations.
